Possibly my favorite original character fic of all time is Evensong by [livejournal.com profile] traprose- Every time I read it I am immediately sucked in as though it were my first reading. I relive the soft, subtle introduction to the almost mysterious albeit spectacular characters. I am instantly drawn into the delicious prose, the tone, the word choice, the imagery, and the magical beauty of the event. It's a world I feel compelled to learn more about, but I especially wish to learn more about the characters.

I'm a character-story kinda gal, and the two main characters here are to die for. I fall in love with the narrator, secretly knowing his name and his role upon my re-readings but trying to block it out so I can enjoy it fresh again. But with his narration I am attached to him. He's someone I can trust, feel attached to, fall in love with. Traprose makes me care about him, so much that I suddenly care about his role in the event and those he cares about. He has that religious, untouchable feel to him. Yet I can't help but want to see him expressing his affections for his star pupil in more than the normal ways. And their interaction is to die for. I love the dialogue. The words. The gentleness and the separation but closeness... it's so very lovely. As are the sneezes.

Oh yes, the sneezes. A whole variety. Sneezes that make me really feel for him. I want to be on his side so that the event isn't spoiled... yet I long for him to sneeze in order to find out what the main character's reaction to it is. And when he does... ohhh that reaction! I love their interaction- both in public and in private. Such tenderness. Such affection. It's as though I completely understand their culture and ways just through my understanding and trust of the narrator. I don't want to give away the ending for anyone who's actually still reading this instead of going straight to the fic, but by the end I do nothing but sigh and feel all warm and fuzzy.

Reading this story is like an event in and of itself. One I adore. Even when I'm just going to serotica to see if there's anything new, I usually go over to it and give it another read.

OMG, I love, love, LOVE your icon! Poor, cute, devious little Link! Makes me want the Zelda: The Windwaker Gamecube game even more badly...

Yay! *blushes*
heehee! Had fun with that one *G* I thought maybe it needed words there in the top right-hand side but nothing I tried worked for me. So hopefully it's okay as-is (though if you have suggestions...) But, yay! Thank you! *giggle* I thought it worked well for the H/C theme and I decided I definitely needed one of my icons to be sneezing-related :-)
Link's such a cutie. I want a sick elf to cuddle!! Even if he's just faking... I'm good at being in denial...

The icon looks fine to me. Now that you point it out, there is a slightly empty spot in that corner, but it's not bad, IMHO. I tried to come up with something you could put there, but nothing seems particularly fitting to me right now.

'I want a sick elf to cuddle!! Even if he's just faking... I'm good at being in denial...'
You and me both, TG, you and me both...

Yeah... nothing worked for me, either. Wanted something to refer to loving the snuggly elfishness... but, yeah, nothing came to my mind either and the more general stuff looked bad. Ah well. Thanks for trying, too!

Oohhh and I must compliment you on the lovely italics in your reply :-)

I understand the frustration...I have the LOTR:TTT game for my Gamecube, and I've been stuck on the second to last level for nearly a year now. It's getting very disheartening to watch Legolas die again and again, mowed down by orcs in front of the large hole in the Deeping Wall, or failing to protect the keep and having the game screen filled with a Gigantic Red Eye mocking my crappy gaming abilities.

This is why I bought the Game guide for the ROTK game, and why I'm still only halfway through the game so far, because I map and plan the strategy for each level now before I'm ready to play... well, that and the fact that I'm not looking forward to playing the Shelob level.*shudders*

oh yes!! :D In OoT, when he goes into adult mode (already sexy there, hehe!) and if you take him into one of the undergound places and let him stand there, he rubs his arms, his body doubles over with a loud sneeze and shivers. AAHHH! It's SO cute! I heard it by accident one day and thought I was loosing my mind. XD You can get OoT for gamecube but it was out for nintendo 64 and an wonderful game. ...ok, I really want to play now. LOL!

My best friend has had 'Windwaker' since last Christmas, so I've seen a ton of it played already, and yeah, I think it's probably the best Gamecube game out there. It's on my Christmas list for this year.

I really need to get my hands on Ocarina. What's it like? I tried playing the very first Nintendo Legend of Zelda game on my Game Boy Advance, and i sucked ever so miserably. I probably will never finish even half of that game. How difficult is Ocarina? I'm willing to struggle through to see Adult Link (especially if he sneezes in the game), but I'm not sure it's worth all the bashing of my head against the wall in frustration if I can't get far in it.

I think so too! Atleast the best roleplaying game I've seen. All the others I have for GC are like racing games that bore me in an hour. Lol!

Yikes! You meant the Four Swords one? I have that for my SP and it's SO hard! Ocarina isn't too hard, but I had to cheat and head to an online guide to see what I had to do next. After a hint I'd go on like nothing happened. But I love adult Link and the sneezing just totally made everything worthwhile, I think. (Better described above.) Plus that game put many of my other favorites to shame since I played it strait through about 5 times. ^_^

Not the 4 Swords one, but a Game Boy Advance version of the first Zelda game that ever appeared for Classic Nintendo, in all it's 16-bit glory. And yes, it's frickin' hard! Easily the toughest thing I've ever played.

Glad to know Ocarina isn't that bad, and ooooh those sneezes sound yummy so that pretty much seals it. I *must* find a version I can play without having to buy a Nintendo 64. Thanks for the recommendation!

I think I have that one, it was like two games on it or something and it was sooo hard and so old looking and I had to give up before I went insane. LOL

There is the Master Quest OoT for the gamecube. Sadly, it's not sold in stores because it was some promotional thing, but I got mine from eBay. Good luck, though! ^_^

And thank you regarding the icon compliments *G* I think it could use something in the top corner but I don't know what. And I wouldn't want to take away from the bottom corner at any rate. LOL But thank you much!
